DRUG TRAFFICKING


 

At the height of drug crimes in Georgia Drug Trafficking is by far the most serious and the most difficult to defend. Trafficking includes sales, growing, manufacturing, delivering, or bringing into the state certain types of drugs. The jail time is severe for all of these types of charges, but depending on the type of drugs and the amount, the prison sentences can be longer the for some major violent crimes. Note there are additional penalties for drug trafficking near schools. For Cocaine: 28-199 grams, a MINIMUM of 10 years and a $100,000.00 fine. 200-399 grams, a MINIMUM of 15 years and a 300,000 fine. For 400 or more grams a MINIMUM of 25 years and a $1,000,000 fine.

Methamphetamine type drugs: 28 grams-199 grams (if manufacturing 0 grams to 199 grams), a MINIMUM of 10 years and a $100,000.00 fine. 200 -399 grams, a MINIMUM of 15 years and a 300,000 fine. For 400 or more grams a MINIMUM of 25 years and a $1,000,000 fine.

Marijuana: 10 lbs.-1,999lbs MINIMUM 5 years and a $50,000 fine. 2,000 lbs-9999lbs, 7 years MINIMUM and a $250,000 fine. For over 10,000 lbs., Minimum 15 years and a $1,000,000.00 fine.

Methaqualone: 200 grams-399 grams MINIMUM 5 years and a $50,000.00 fine. 400 or more grams, a MINIMUM of 15 years and a $250,000.00 fine.

MDMA: 28 grams- to 199 grams MINIMUM 3 -30 years and a $25,000-$250,000 fine. 200-399 grams a MINIMUM 5-30 years and a fine from $50,000-250,000. 400 or more grams a MINIMUM of 10-30 years and a fine between $100,000-300,000.

All other Drugs: 4-13 grams MINIMUM of 5 years and a $50,000 fine. 14-27 grams MINIMUM of 10 years and a $100,000.00 fine, and 28 grams or more MINIMUM 25 years and a $500,000 fine.
